Scope and Purpose
Both “Block Rooms” (set from the booking calendar) and “Stop Selling” (set from the price calendar) are methods for adjusting inventory, but they differ in their scope and purpose.
Item | Setting Location | Setting Unit
| Purpose |
Room | Used to block a room during periods when it is unavailable (e.g. maintenance).
※ Blocked rooms are considered unavailable, so they cannot be assigned to reservations. They are also not included in OCC (Occupancy Rate) calculations. | ||
Price Calendar |
| Used to stop selling specific rate plans or room types for a certain period.
※ This only stops sales; existing reservations can still be assigned to rooms. |
Why can’t I block a room that already has a reservation assigned?
In AirHost, “Stop Selling” and “Block Rooms” are clearly separated features.
Stop Selling: A setting used to stop future sales. It does not affect existing reservations, and it can be applied even if reservations already exist.
Block Rooms: A setting that makes a specific room unavailable for use.
(This means it cannot coexist with existing reservations in that room.)
To avoid logical conflicts such as “a room marked as unavailable but still having a reservation assigned,” the system does not allow blocks to be created if a reservation already exists.
We understand that for properties with only one room, these two features may seem similar. However, this design ensures consistency across systems with multiple rooms and room types.
Therefore, when you want to stop selling a room that already has reservations, please use “Stop Selling” instead of “Block Rooms”
