What Is a Block?
A Block is used to make a specific room unavailable.
Typical use cases include:
Owner stays
Staff stays
Maintenance
Repairs or out-of-service rooms
A blocked room cannot receive new reservations and cannot be assigned to existing reservations during the blocked period.
What Is Stop Sell?
Stop Sell is used to stop selling a room type or rate plan.
Typical use cases include:
Closing sales for specific dates
Stopping sales for specific rate plans
Adjusting availability during special events
Managing availability for individual OTAs
Unlike a Block, a Stop Sell does not make the room itself unavailable. The room remains available for room assignment to existing reservations.
Which One Should You Use?
Use Block when you want to:
Reserve a room for owner or staff use
Perform room maintenance or repairs
Make a specific room unavailable
Use Stop Sell when you want to:
Stop accepting new reservations
Stop selling a specific rate plan
Temporarily close inventory as part of your sales strategy
Although Block and Stop Sell serve similar purposes, they are designed for different use cases:
Block: Makes a room unavailable for use.
Stop Sell: Stops the room or rate plan from being sold.
Choose the option that best fits your operational needs.
