Overview
As each OTA handles taxes differently, accommodation tax may not be calculated correctly or may be charged twice.
Please check each OTA’s specifications before configuring the tax settings.
Airbnb
Important Notes:
Airbnb offers a feature that collects accommodation tax (hotel tax) from guests on behalf of hosts and remits it to the hosts. However, the accommodation tax collected by Airbnb is not reflected in the Transaction Details in AirHost or in AirHost’s accommodation tax calculations. It is also not automatically included in the accommodation tax report.
Booking.com
Important Notes:
If VAT is configured on Booking.com, the tax amount will be displayed on the Reservation Order Details page in AirHost. However, this is for reference only. The VAT amount will not be reflected in Transaction Details or included in AirHost’s accommodation tax calculations.
How to Configure
When calculating accommodation tax in AirHost, VAT included in the accommodation rate must be correctly excluded. Therefore, you need to configure the VAT (Tax Included) settings in AirHost.
Even when integrating with Booking.com, the same settings as for other OTAs must be configured by navigating to: Admin Console > Select Property > Settings > Tax Included
For instructions on how to configure the settings, please refer to the following guide:
Trip.com
Important Notes:
If accommodation tax is configured on Trip.com, the synced tax amount will be displayed on the Reservation Order Details page in AirHost. However, this is for reference only.
The tax amount will not be reflected in Transaction Details, included in AirHost’s accommodation tax calculations, or automatically included in the accommodation tax report.
Important: When Accommodation Tax Is Set to Be Paid at the Property on Trip.com
If accommodation tax is configured as payable at the property on Trip.com, the accommodation tax amount collected through Trip.com will be included in the Trip.com amount shown in Transaction Details. If automatic accommodation tax addition is also enabled in AirHost, the tax will be recorded twice.
To prevent double counting, add Trip.com to the Excluded Channels list under the Automatic Tax Addition (Tax Exclusive) settings.
For instructions, please refer to the following article:
Please note that any accommodation tax entries already added will not be deleted even after configuring the exclusion settings.
If there are any unnecessary entries, please cancel them manually from Transaction Details.
