2. Preparation
To manage accommodation tax correctly, there are a few required settings and items you should verify in advance.
.
Set Up Consumption Tax (Inclusive Tax)

Accommodation tax is calculated based on the room rate excluding consumption tax. Therefore, if consumption tax has not been configured, the accommodation tax cannot be calculated correctly.
For setup instructions, please refer to the following article: Tax Settings]
Check OTA-Specific Notes
OTAs may also have their own settings for Consumption Tax and Accommodation Tax.
Since the way these taxes are handled during synchronization with AirHost varies by OTA, please review the OTA-specific guidelines in advance.

Important Notes Regarding Automatic Accommodation Tax Calculation
Accommodation Tax for Infants
AirHost cannot automatically determine whether an infant has been charged an accommodation fee based on the reservation information provided by OTAs. Therefore, the system cannot take the actual payment status into account when calculating the accommodation tax.
In regions where tax eligibility depends on whether an accommodation fee is charged, infants are generally included in the taxable guest count when calculating the accommodation tax automatically.
As a result, if a reservation includes infants who are not charged an accommodation fee, the accommodation tax calculated automatically by AirHost may differ from the actual tax amount.
In such cases, please manually adjust the accommodation tax amount as necessary.
Accommodation Tax for Children
AirHost automatically calculates the accommodation tax based on the guest classifications (adults and children) provided by OTAs.
AirHost classifies guests aged 12 and below as children. However, the age classifications for children vary depending on the OTA.
Additionally, the age requirements for accommodation tax exemptions differ by municipality.
Therefore, when a guest is classified as a "child" by an OTA, AirHost cannot determine whether the guest's actual age qualifies for a tax exemption under the applicable municipal regulations. As a result, the calculated tax amount may differ from the actual tax liability.
If the accommodation tax calculated automatically by AirHost differs from the actual tax amount, please manually adjust it as necessary.
Example: Atami City
In Atami City, accommodation tax is exempt for guests who are elementary school students or younger.
AirHost determines the number of taxable guests based on the guest classifications provided by OTAs.
Therefore, even if a 12-year-old guest is actually a junior high school student and should be subject to accommodation tax, the guest will be treated as exempt if classified as a "child" in the OTA reservation information.
Example: Nasu Town
In Nasu Town, accommodation tax is exempt for guests under 12 years old (aged 0–11).
AirHost determines the number of taxable guests based on the guest classifications provided by OTAs.
Therefore, even if a 12-year-old guest is subject to accommodation tax, the guest will be treated as exempt if classified as a "child" in the OTA reservation information.
